Are you an academically talented high school student interested in journalism and ready to plunge into college coursework?
Terp Young Scholars is teaming with the Philip Merrill College of Journalism to offer a three-credit course — JOUR 150, Introduction to Mass Communication — this summer.
Students will get practice with news writing and research; explore coverage of politics, sports and minority issues; tour campus and professional newsrooms; and meet professional journalists and scholars. Best of all, they’ll get to network with other like-minded students from around the country.
The class is part of a university program that offers workshops, social activities and campus tours to students who are also earning college credit.
The journalism course runs from July 7 through 26 and meets every weekday for three hours during the three weeks. Applicants must be carrying a minimum 3.0 high school GPA.
The deadline to apply is June 15. Click here to learn more and to apply.
