March 3, 2018 8:30am — March 3, 2018 4:30pm

Register now for Face Time with the Pros, a day of seminars, hands-on experiences and face-to-face time with broadcast professionals from around the region at the University of Maryland Philip Merrill College of Journalism.

This is a chance for college and high schools students to meet and get advice from news directors and other newsroom leaders from around the region.

Among this year’s participants: NBC4 News Director Mike Goldrick, WJZ News Director Gail Bending, WDVM News Director Mark Kraham, and WTOP Senior News Director Mitchell Miller.

The day kicks off with a panel of news directors and other newsroom leaders taking a look at the job market and giving advice about getting your first job. Students will then rotate through a series of sessions that include better storytelling, working the live shot (which includes a live truck), in-studio performance tips and opportunities for one-on-one sessions with pros who can review resumes, resume reels and provide job interview tips.

The day concludes with words of advice from veteran broadcasters — including NBC4 anchor Wendy Reiger and veteran sportscaster Johnny Holliday.

Registration, which includes lunch, is $15 and is open to college and high school students. Registration closes Feb. 28.

The National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter of NATAS, together with the Chesapeake Associated Press Broadcasters Association, the White House News Photographers Association and the National Press Photographers Association, are sponsoring Face Time with the Pros.
