COLLEGE PARK (2/11/19) — Three University of Maryland Philip Merrill College of Journalism students were among the recipients of this year’s Maryland, Delaware D.C. Press Association Reese Cleghorn Internship.

Senior Hannah Himes, sophomore Angela Roberts and sophomore Samantha Subin were selected from a pool of two dozen highly qualified applicants, according to a news release on the MDDC website.

During the eight-week paid internship in professional newsrooms this summer, each student is expected to get 35 to 40 published clips.

Himes will work at The Frederick News Post in Frederick, Roberts will work in the Capital Gazette newsroom in Annapolis and Subin will work at The Daily Record in Baltimore.

The Reese Cleghorn Internship is named for the former Merrill College dean, who from 1981 to 2000 helped lead the college from relative obscurity to national prominence.

Bowie State sophomore Oyin Adedeoyin was also selected.
