Linda Steiner studies how and when gender matters in news and newsrooms and how feminists use media. Other research areas include media ethics; journalism history; and citizen journalism. Current projects include researching a book about women war reporters and co-editing a handbook on gender and war. Steiner has written, co-authored, or edited six books, as well as many book chapters and refereed articles. She is a former president of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication and editor-elect of Journalism & Mass Communication Monographs.
