Povich Center students were busy this summer. Many of our students took their journalism skills to the field, gaining experience at various summer jobs and internships all over the country.
Here are a few highlights:
Aaron Arnstein '24 was the head of broadcasting and media for the California Collegiate League's Prune Packers. Aaron broadcast every game and created pre- and postgame content.
Master's student Sapna Bansil '24 spent her summer interning with The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Matt Fusillo '24 spent time as the business operations intern at Monumental Sports & Entertainment. Matt worked out of Capital One Arena shadowing many departments, including global partnerships, marketing, sales, executive suites, ticket operations and more.
Mike Howes '26 interned at PressBox, where he edited and fact-checked stories and provided content for PressBoxOnline.com.
Sam Jane '26 worked as an intern at Montgomery Community Media covering news in Montgomery County.
Master's student Dylan Manfre '23 interned at TAPinto Newark through the Dow Jones News Fund’s business reporting program.
Ricky Podgorski '25 worked as a sideline reporter for the Danbury Westerners of the New England Collegiate Baseball League. Ricky was also selected as the 2023 NECBL All-Star Sideline reporter.
Oliver Schaack '25 worked in Fox Sports' talent relations department in Los Angeles. Oliver helped keep track of guest appearances on all FS1 studio shows and had the opportunity to lean from some of Fox Sports' most well-respected executives.
Varun Shankar '24 interned with the Boston Globe sports desk covering Red Sox games and Patriots practices.
Ben Strober '25 worked as the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox’s beat reporter in the Cape Cod Baseball League.
Brendan Weissel '26 worked as a research intern for the podcast Dead to Rights and as a freelance writer and audience engagement editor at the Lexington Observer.
Johanna Wolkoff '24 served as the studio technical operations intern at SportsNet New York, the exclusive home of the New York Mets coverage.
Hailey Yellin '24 served as the content intern for the National Lacrosse League. Hailey edited packages for NLL's social accounts and got to film the finals series in Buffalo, N.Y.
