Howard Fellow Cooper Gant is a journalist and graduate student with a background in sports, business and political reporting. Raised in Fort Worth, Texas, he earned a B.A. in Journalism and Political Science with a minor in Communications from the University of Arkansas in 2026.

Gant began his journalism career at his university's student newspaper, The Arkansas Traveler. He reported on news and sports before rising to editor in chief. In that role, he restructured the newsroom to prioritize digital-first journalism and led development of the organization's first smartphone app.

His time covering business in the Natural State, first as an intern at Arkansas Business and then as a Dow Jones News Fund data reporting intern at the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette's business desk, fueled his interest in how money moves through communities. One investigation into a stalled development project near the state's capital showed him firsthand how business decisions ripple into everyday lives. That interest carried into his internship at Insurance Insider US in New York City, where he came to understand the global markets intertwined with risk management.

At the Howard Center, Gant is excited to dig into the data and follow the money.
