David Kyuwook Oh is a journalist and human rights researcher with more than 20 years of experience in journalism. His research interests are at the intersection of journalism, political communication and information systems. Drawing on his experience reporting on North Korea and the Korean Peninsula, he is interested in how propaganda, misinformation and emerging technologies — including artificial intelligence — shape information environments, audience trust and the practice of journalism.

Before joining the Philip Merrill College of Journalism, Oh spent the past decade at BBC World Service, where he reported on Korean affairs and held editorial and management responsibilities across digital, social media and radio platforms, including journalism produced for audiences in North Korea.

His professional experience includes feature writing, investigative and documentary journalism, online and radio production, as well as short-form video and mobile journalism (MoJo).
