Emilio Garcia-Ruiz is the Editor In Chief of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Before joining the Chronicle in 2020, he served as the Managing Editor for Digital at The Washington Post, overseeing the newsroom’s development, implementation and execution of digital strategy. Garcia-Ruiz has also served as the Post’s Editor for Strategic Projects, as well as editor of the Local, Sunday and Sports sections.
In 2000, he edited the Pulitzer Prize-winning investigation by the St. Paul Pioneer Press that uncovered academic fraud in the University of Minnesota men's basketball program. His career also includes editing stints at the Orange County Register and Los Angeles Times.
