Howard Fellow Gabriel Ogunjobi is an investigative journalist from Nigeria who believes the quest for establishing the truth must be handled with extra care. This is why he often takes on neck-deep endeavors to produce high-stakes reports that might otherwise be resisted or swept under the carpet.

His works have been published in more than 10 African and American media outlets, including the Foundation for Investigative Journalism, Premium Times, The Continent, New Lines Magazine and Reason Magazine. From embarking on undercover missions between Nigeria and the Benin Republic to expose economic sabotage, to trailing events that led to the killings of Nigerian citizens on the Nigeria-Cameroonian border, or exposing police complicity in the boom of illegal drug use at Nigeria’s industrial city capital, Ogunjobi is invested in telling stories on cross-border affairs, crimes and the big economy.

He was one of the three young journalists who represented Nigeria at the Future News Worldwide Conference in London in 2019. For his investigations, he has won awards such as the Africa Media Development Foundation’s Journalist of the Year (2020) and the Investigative Reporter of the Year at the Nigeria Media Merit Awards (2024).

At the Howard Center, Ogunjobi is passionate about using open-source intelligence to tell stories on how crimes are penetrated in real time and how artificial intelligence can be maximized to keep America safe.
