Teona Goderdzishvili

Teona Goderdzishvili is a Ph.D. student at the University of Maryland's Philip Merrill College of Journalism. Her research examines the relationship between media and political change, with a particular focus on protests and the media in her home country, the Republic of Georgia. She is also interested in comparative media history and representations of political change across Soviet and post-Soviet periods.

At the University of Maryland, Goderdzishvili has taught JOUR130: Self-Presentation in the Age of YouTube and JOUR175: Media Literacy. Her teaching interests include media literacy, social media and the impact of artificial intelligence on education. She is also interested in cybersecurity and the challenges emerging technologies create for journalism and education.

Before coming to academia, Goderdzishvili worked as a journalist and digital communications specialist in Georgia.
