The Shirley Povich Center for Sports Journalism at the University of Maryland is headed to Los Angeles! The night before the Maryland men's basketball team takes on UCLA, the Povich Center will bring together UMD Athletic Director Damon Evans, UCLA Athletic Director Martin Jarmond and FOX Sports President/COO Mark Silverman for a conversation about Big Ten expansion and the future of college sports.
Maryland was part of the last Big Ten expansion in 2014 and UCLA will be one of four West Coast schools joining the conference for the 2024-25 academic year.
In a discussion moderated by sports journalist and former college gymnast Bonnie Bernstein '92, you'll hear about the opportunities and challenges of conference realignment, as well as insights into the rapidly changing college sports landscape.
The program will run from 5-6 p.m., with a reception to follow. The event is free, but space and parking are limited. Registration is required by noon ET, Dec. 15. Due to security protocols at FOX Sports Studios, no walk-ins or non-registered guests will be allowed into the event. Additional details will be provided to registrants in advance.
