  • Howard Center's 'Printing Hate' Project Wins SPJ Sigma Delta Chi Award for Collaborative Journalism

    COLLEGE PARK – “Printing Hate,” the University of Maryland Howard Center for Investigative Journalism’s unprecedented exploration of the racist past of white-owned newspapers, won the 2021 Sigma Delta Chi Award for Collaborative Journalism from the Society of Professional Journalists.

  • Meet Merrill College's 2022-23 Class of Peer Mentors

    The University of Maryland Philip Merrill College of Journalism's Peer Mentor Program is a first-year experience designed to facilitate the successful transition of incoming students into the journalism major. Peer mentors are sophomores, juniors and seniors at Merrill who each guide a group of eight to 10 incoming students through their first semester at UMD.

  • Thirteen Merrill Students Honored as Capital News Service Wins 15 MDDC Awards

    COLLEGE PARK – The University of Maryland Philip Merrill College of Journalism’s Capital News Service won 15 awards and had 13 individual students recognized in this year’s Maryland, Delaware, District of Columbia Press Association contest. CNS, staffed by Merrill College students and led by faculty members, competed against professional news organizations in the annual contest. All work was entered in Division O, for online-only news organizations.
