Merrill College’s Student-Alumni Career Week is back!

During the week of Feb. 26-March 1, the Philip Merrill College of Journalism will host informational interviews with alumni working in journalism- and media-related fields, and a series of events featuring alumni and guests.

Students can sign up for informational interviews with one or more alums beginning Feb. 16. This is an opportunity to hear from some of the industry’s top leaders and gain valuable career insights. 

All alumni and students are welcome to attend the panel discussions and in-person events. Links are below to register for each.

Informational Interviews (for current Merrill students only)

Meet with one or more alums for 30-minute interviews to gain valuable professional advice and insights. Meeting spots are first-come, first-served.

Career Week Panels

Resume Workshop

Join Carla Correa (M.J. '03) to learn how to put your best foot forward when applying for jobs! Carla is The New York Times' deputy director of career programs. She will talk about what to include in your resume, what not to include, and how to use your resume and cover letter to land the job you want.

Careers in Sports Journalism

Hear a panel of #MerrillMade alums working in sports journalism talk about how they got to where they are and their day-to-day work. Panelists include Jake Eisenberg (play-by-play broadcaster, Kansas City Royals), Monica McNutt (basketball analyst, ESPN), Jacob Rousseau (sports reporter, The Providence Journal) and Amber Theoharis (Emmy-winning journalist and documentary producer).

Careers in Producing 

Tune in and learn about the dynamic field of producing, one of the most searched-for careers post-graduation right now, from #MerrillMade alums. Panelists include Bradleigh Chance (TODAY Show producer, NBC News), Lauren Hamilton (1A producer, NPR & WAMU 88.5), Adrienne Nicole (CEO/executive producer, Adrienne Nicole Productions) and Matthew Perison (video production director, Monumental Sports Network).

Speed Networking with the Journalism Alumni Network

You're invited to join the Journalism Alumni Network for an evening of speed networking as part of Merrill College's Student-Alum Career Week!

You will huddle in small groups with #MerrillMade alums working in various industries, from journalism and communication to marketing and law. This is an excellent opportunity to make professional connections and learn from the experience of those who have already entered the working world.
