Shahariar Khan Nobel

Shahariar Khan Nobel is interested in understanding the flow and mechanism of mis/disinformation within media platforms and its potential effects on public opinion across areas, from politics to health, especially in the age of artificial intelligence. He extends his interests to social identity and digital engagement, information-seeking, source credibility and media trust.

Nobel earned an M.S. from Oklahoma State University before joining the University of Maryland. Prior to that, he worked as a reporter at bdnews24.com and a newsroom editor at Jamuna Television in Bangladesh. He began his journalism career during his bachelor's studies, when he was a student reporter and led his department's news service as an editor. His journalistic experiences within a censored media landscape, along with a gradual decline in audience trust, motivated him to reevaluate existing media theories in the context of technological advancements to address the current media landscape and its needs.
