Aaron Ye

Aaron Ye leverages large-scale computational approaches to explore the mechanisms of mass polarization and the contribution of social media to the emergence, amplification and persistence of polarization patterns across communities in the United States.

Using large datasets, consisting of tens of millions of social media posts, coupled with detailed socioeconomic and ideological metrics, Ye is building statistical models that explain social media’s contribution to partisan sorting and mass polarization. He has also applied the study of social media networks to characterize the news media coverage of divisive issues, political communication and the crafting of persuasive messages by political elites. He has developed predictive models of election outcomes based on computational analyses of social media networks.
