Joe Yasharoff

Joe Yasharoff is a longtime sports executive in Washington, D.C., and a proud 1987 Merrill College graduate. He is currently the news director at Montgomery Community Media. He was formerly the managing editor at NBC Sports Washington and executive sports producer at FOX 5 DC. He has won 12 Emmy Awards and was inducted into the NATAS Silver Circle in 2014.

Yasharoff teaches JOUR 368Y: Topics in Broadcast and Electronic Media: Sports Producing. The class gives students an opportunity to learn about television production through the deconstruction of shows, hands-on experience working University of Maryland games, field trips, panel discussions and the opportunity to talk to prominent people in the business.
