Sally Farhat
Sally Farhat
Sally Farhat uses an interdisciplinary lens that builds on media, political psychology and political science theories to examine the implications of critical junctures on media production, journalism performance and audience perception of media content (media effects). Her research combines multimethod approaches, such as experiments, surveys, interviews, qualitative thematic analysis and quantitative content analysis. Her quantitative work employs advanced statistical analyses, including mediation and moderation analyses and structural equation modeling.
Before joining Merrill College, she served as the Beirut correspondent for FRANCE 24 English and the assistant editor of Annahar English in Lebanon. At Annahar, she founded NAYA, the first column in the Middle East published by a traditional news outlet that challenges the representation of women in the news. She was also the digital media coordinator for the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs at the American University of Beirut.
