Welma Campbell Mashinini Redd is a faculty member of the School of Global Journalism and Communication at Morgan State University in Baltimore and a former broadcaster in Liberia, West Africa.
This award-winning filmmaker received Morgan's African Heritage Award for "Botswana: An African Jewel," a documentary about the remarkable African country of Botswana, which had the fastest-growing economy in the world for a few decades. A documentary produced for the African Union's 50th celebration by African Ambassadors in Washington, D.C., unfolds the struggles of African countries working together for independence and forming one of the first regional organizations in history.
