After a year of remote classes, COVID tests, heightened anxiety, online commencements and more Zoom time than any human should have to endure, Merrill College faculty, staff and students are taking a moment to ask, "What have we learned?" Povich Center Announces Sports and Politics Poll Collaboration With Washington Post, UMD Center for Democracy and Civic Engagement
COLLEGE PARK — The Shirley Povich Center for Sports Journalism at the University of Maryland Philip Merrill College of Journalism on Wednesday announced it will conduct as many as two sports and politics polls per year in collaboration with The Washington Post and the UMD Center for Democracy and Civic Engagement.
Povich Center Names Late Philadelphia Sportswriter John Smallwood '87 Winner of Lacy-Smith Award
COLLEGE PARK -- John Smallwood '87, whose distinguished career as a reporter and sports columnist for the Philadelphia Daily News and The Philadelphia Inquirer spanned three decades, has posthumously been named the winner of the 2021 Sam Lacy-Wendell Smith Award. The Shirley Povich Center for Sports Journalism at the University of Maryland Philip Merrill College of Journalism announced Smallwood’s selection Tuesday.
