    COLLEGE PARK — The University of Maryland and the Philip Merrill College of Journalism were well-represented as the Society of Professional Journalists recently honored the best collegiate journalism in Region 2 with its 2020 Mark of Excellence Awards winners.

    COLLEGE PARK -- Amelia Jarecke ’22, a student at the University of Maryland Philip Merrill College of Journalism, and Merrill College Lecturer Bethany Swain have been honored with awards from the Broadcast Education Association.

    The Philip Merrill College of Journalism took some time to reflect on how we rose to the challenge of the pandemic and grew from it, beginning with thoughts from Dean Lucy Dalglish.  After a year of remote classes, COVID tests, heightened anxiety, online commencements and more Zoom time than any human should have to endure, Merrill College faculty, staff and students are taking a moment to ask, "What have we learned?"
